And this world in his work sparks and bursts with an unseen force from people, their conversations, everyday situations. By creating simple, true, convincing and easy-to-understand stories, C. Goldonis portrays human relationships from the inside, being able to unfold them in all shades - turning them into a metaphor for the world itself. In the 18th century full of vague future prospects and imbued with inexplicable cruelty, when there was a feeling that Europe would soon experience a turning point that would forever change the face of society, C. Goldonis is fundamentally human, capable of deceiving a person with love and warmth even when he is harshly criticized. The dramatist, surpassing his time, grasped the state of modern man and his worries with his work, highlighted the importance of the character of a woman who doubted her traditional role in society - this mastery of his is best revealed in the magnificent "Summer Vacationers Trilogy", consisting of three works: "Summer Vacationers' Fever", "Summer Vacationers' Adventures" and "After Summer's Return". This fall, director Gabrielė Tuminaitė will present the first part of the trilogy "Summer Fever" in the Vilnius Small Theater. Livorno. The characters are feverishly preparing to go to country villas for the summer, and in the foreground is Leonardo's jealousy of his fiancée Giacinta, who is also the girlfriend of young Guljelm. In a desperate rush, neither financial nor moral norms are ignored, and the characters are obsessed with vanity. They hope that once they go to the villas, to that magical "elsewhere," they will be fulfilled as human beings, and the problems they are running from will resolve themselves. But it soon becomes clear that the problem lies much deeper - in the complete inability to deal with their lives, which are speeding towards the abyss. As the characters are constantly torn between anxiety, jealousy, outbursts of anger and irritation, the pace of the work increases without stopping, the dynamics rise to madness, as if obsessed with this global evacuation, they leave their littered and looted, devastated home-theatre and rush somewhere else, where it is "better", hoping to become what they are promised: to be more talented, more beautiful, more recognized. Carlo Goldoni (1707-1793) was a Venetian playwright and director who created more than one and a half hundred plays. The playwright was committed to a seemingly impossible mission at the time - to create an Italian theater that would resonate throughout Europe and become close to everyone. Beginning with the sunset of commedia dell'arte, he removed the masks from the actors and emphasized the importance of the text, thus bringing written dramaturgy back to the theater stage. Duely underestimated in his time, he left Italy and finally became completely impoverished, considered only the author of mediocre comedies, he experienced a revival in the 20th century, when his works began to be staged one after another by the great masters of Italian theater direction - L. Visconti, G. Strehler, L. Ronconi and others, and skeptical theater managers had to admit that the artist who created a couple of centuries ago is as relevant as ever. Today, the work of C. Goldonis is established among the works of the world's greatest playwrights, and the author himself is recognized by Italians as the "Galileo of new literature". "The summer vacationers' trilogy" is a monumental work not only because of the mathematically polished dramaturgy, but above all because of the poetic and writing maturity and the achieved almost cinematic precision. A few years ago, the trilogy was included in the list of 101 best and most influential plays in the world compiled by the authoritative publisher and editor M. Billington and published by The Guardian. In the coming years, the theater, together with its partners, will present to the audience a whole trilogy full of surprises, which we will see on the theater stages as three separate performances.
