Stage arts - from an early age! Contempo International Stage Arts Festival invites children and young people to educational theater classes to strengthen the connection with the young audience and help her get to know the world of arts more closely. The classes will be led by experienced theater educators - the founders of the No Shoes Theater: actor Raimondas Klezys and director Ieva Jackevičiūtė
About an educational activity
During one educational session, two creative sessions await young participants: motion theater (duration - 1 hour) and theater games (duration - 1 hour), including a break for a short respite.
The educational theater education (lecturer - Ieva Jackevičiūtė) is for agile children who know the world through movement and physical expression. During the classes, children have the opportunity not only to release the energy accumulated, but also to concentrate on creative activities. While dancing, improvising and playing the games of the stage, they learn to cooperate, listen to others and express their thoughts. Through creative work, the ability to incarnate into various characters, develops a sense of empathy, and promotes knowledge and naming of emotions. The educational program consists of motion improvisation, the basics of stage culture, the development of rhythm and coordination.
Education of theater games (lecturer - Raimondas Klezys) is a creative and engaging activity that develops not only imagination but also teamwork. Improvisational games based on lively communication help children focus, develop communication skills, encourage cooperation and look for common solutions. Theater games are not just entertaining or having fun. This is followed by a discussion, during which children are invited to identify what they seem to have fun or difficult. By analyzing their experiences and emotions, they learn to understand what specific activities they provided them - both personally and the whole team. This education helps children learn to see and hear another, to name rising feelings, and to understand their place in the group - all of which happen in a playful, natural and short period of time.
After the first session (9:30 pm), the Contempo team will invite participants to visit festival event spaces, get acquainted with artists, and watch the performances preparation or rehearsal process. This is an additional activity, so it is imperative that children are accompanied by adults - parents or guardians.
After the second session (2:00 pm), an intense program of Contempo Festival in Kaunas city center and the Old Town will begin. We invite all participants of theater education to attend festival events actively. Tickets for paid shows will need to be purchased independently - students are subject to a 20 % discount.
The Lithuanian Cultural Council is funded by the Lithuanian Cultural Council, the program friend - the hero's progymnasium.
Educational activities will be photographed and/or filmed. If you do not agree that the child is photographed and/or filmed, please inform the festival team before the educational session.
