Nurse Shu, still mourning a tragic loss, goes to a remote town to care for an elderly woman suffering from agoraphobia. She is feared both by her neighbors and by Na Sídhe, the creature the old woman believes kidnapped her decades ago. As the women form an ever-closer bond, Shu becomes affected by the patient's paranoia, rituals and superstitions, until finally her own past surfaces. Using the folk horror genre, Frewaka (Irish for roots) tells the silent stories of women who have experienced violence.
