Little Uli wants to grow a beard, become a pirate, a knight or a pope, but she does not want to marry the stereotypes of her native Bavaria. Because of Uli's "boyish" tendencies, the family constantly boils over. Many years later, as his father lies on his deathbed, Uli learns his deepest secret - he also did not fit into traditional male stereotypes. Why, being so similar, did father and daughter spend their whole lives as strangers? This film is a tragicomic story about family secrets and gender roles, as well as director Uli's attempt to understand her father's true personality through photographs, objects and diaries.
