Delia (actress and film director Paola Cortellesi) is an ordinary mother of a traditional post-war Italian family: she raises three children, takes care of the house, takes care of her sick father-in-law and silently suffers the attacks of her violent husband Ivan. Although she seems resigned to her fate, in fact, deep in her heart, Delia harbors the hope that life can be different.
The marriage of her eldest daughter Marcella to Julius promises to bring the fastest change to the family. The drunken bar owner's son persistently seeks Marcela's hand, and the girl is indifferent to him. But Delia soon sees that Julius is too much like both her own father and her husband Ivan. Determined not to let her beloved daughter repeat her own mistakes and fall into the trap of an unhappy marriage, Delia is determined to do anything to prevent this.
"Hopeful Tomorrow", reminiscent of Roberto Benigni's legendary film "Life is Beautiful" in its style, became the most watched film of the year in Italy last year. Reminiscent of the classic works of the last century, the black-and-white film was directed by and starred Paola Cortellesi, one of the brightest and most beloved Italian movie stars of our time.
The premiere of the film in Lithuanian cinemas is on November 22.
The film is in Italian with Lithuanian subtitles.
