The film tells about young people in the socialization center, who ended up there for minor crimes. Aggression and demonstration of physical strength are almost the only ways of communication among these teenagers. "I inherited drawing from my mother, and a criminal record from my real father," jokes one of them. They don't have internet, phones, cigarettes, alcohol or other drugs, they can't meet girls, go out on the town. The guys at the center are counting down the days until summer vacation, when they will finally be free. Only Bogdan refuses to go home. Physically strong, but gentle and curious, the young man is afraid to look his mother in the eye. The black-and-white footage of the film reveals the dark side of the boys' lives and their extremely murky future. N-13
As in his previous films, director Marat Sargsyan again draws attention to the world of men, which he is able to show openly, especially sensitively. The director's choice of minimal resolution creates the impression that the film speaks as if half of the lips: a lot is kept silent, but the silence is eloquent. "Bogdan doesn't want to go home" is a unique portrait of the students of the socialization center, which raises much deeper questions about our country's social service system, which often fails the most vulnerable.
