Sacrum and Profanum in Pievėnai is a fun, soul -warming documentary tale of the last village in Lithuania continuing the unique, centuries -old Easter tradition. The film was recognized as the best Lithuanian premiere at this year's Vilnius International Film Festival "Kino Spring".
Once a year, the quiet and remote village of Pievėnai comes to life in Samogitia. Different generations unite to celebrate Easter and continue in the 19th century. the tradition of the Cross Guardians mentioned in the writings. Director Giedrė Beinoriūtė ("Breathing to Marble", "Breathing on Serious Topics", "Balcony") raises questions about holiness and everyday life in modern human life, by observing very closely with gentle humor.
