The Raketa ship is an engineering legend that has sailed through the most picturesque bends and valleys of the Nemunas since the 1960s. The journeys that have rewarded generations of travelers with sentiments are reborn with legendary ship captains and stories.
The most modern passenger ship of the time in the Soviet Union began to be produced back in 1957. Unforgettable futuristic shapes, powerful hydrofoils and unprecedented travel speed: a vehicle that exceeded the expectations of its time was associated with freedom and extremely fast scientific progress.
Innovative ideas soon reached Lithuania - in the early 1960s, the Raketa ships arrived in Kaunas and immediately started traveling along the bends of the Nemunas. The ship, which could hold almost sixty passengers at a time, sailed along the river on several different routes, and the number of running Rockets eventually increased to five ships! These impressive, sentimental trips in Lithuania continued until 1995 and surprised even several generations of vacationers.
History says that the most popular route by Raketa was Kaunas - Nida. The trip along the picturesque shores of the Nemunas ended in the beloved port of the Curonian Spit. The route became a real hit - you had to wait for it in long queues, and the tickets were melting like the goods of the first necessity.
Inspired by the idea of the legendary ship and nostalgic images of the past, we turn a page in the history of Raketa and prepare crew for new routes.
