November 9, Saturday from 12:00 p.m. 30 minutes - on the occasion of the closing of the season - we invite you to a detailed walk around Kaunas's Žaliakalnis of the excursion cycle "The Most Beautiful Doors of Kaunas", dedicated to small forms of architecture - modernist doors. We will start it at the Basilica of the Resurrection of Christ in Kaunas (Žemaičių St. 31A), and we will end at Ramybės Park, at the "Grunvaldas" stop (Vytautas Ave.).
This excursion is an unconventional way to get to know Kaunas' interwar modernist architecture, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List a year ago. The 20th century is also on the World Heritage list since last year. In the first half, the Žaliakalnis district and its five zones were created - the Kauko district, the city - the garden (Minties ratas), the Perkūnos district, the Đžuolynos park with sports infrastructure and the Research Laboratory of the Armaments Board of the Ministry of National Defense. We will travel through four of them during the tour!
All of them are distinguished by their unique forms of small architecture, among which are the doors of buildings. Jonas Oškinis, the tour guide who was born and raised in Žaliakalnis, will tell you about it and answer your questions. , such as Bronius Elsbergas, Vytautas Landsbergis - Žemkalnis, dr. Stasys Kudokas, Feliksas Bielinskis, Arnas Funkas or nameless designers and craftsmen of that time.
The duration of the trip is 2 hours. The excursion will take place in any weather. If your plans change, tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded, but you can always gift or transfer your ticket to others.
