Creative workshop with Žaneta Jasaityte-Bessonova "Making a Christmas toy" on December 20. at 5 p.m. KKKC Art yard, Daržų st. 10
The history of Christmas toys is very rich; although the tradition of decorating the Christmas tree dates back to the Middle Ages, it was not until the middle of the 19th century that decorative glass bubbles, similar to the ones we see today, appeared. Until then, edible "toys" were hung on the greens: apples, gingerbread, nuts; later paper flowers, "silver" stars made by artisans were used. The workshop of artist Žaneta Jasaitytė-Bessonova will take you back to those times.
Here you will make a toy using the dry needle technique. "We will print on specially prepared wet paper, before carving a picture with a dry needle on the inner side of the tetrapak package" - Žaneta presents the idea. For carving, you can use a stencil prepared by the artist or a picture created by yourself. Such toys will decorate any home - both yours and those to whom you give them!
You can see the progress and result of the creation of such an ornament on the "Grafikas dirttuvės" account on Facebook and Instagram.
