The Šauklii rock massif stands out for its unique, tundra-like landscape: tall junipers are green here all year round, rare and endangered plants bloom in the summer, carpets of heather spread out, and various birds can be found, including grouses, which have found refuge here and are listed in the Lithuanian Red Book. Šauklii boulder-juniper grove is one of the most important protected places in the Šauklii landscape reserve. This unique place was formed by the last retreating glacier about 12-13 thousand years ago. Huge accumulations of boulders and rocks, which came with the sliding ice masses, were deposited when the glacier began to melt suddenly.
You will see mouflons grazing in the boulder enclosure! For the safety of you, your pets and mouflons, please do not bring your four-legged pets into the enclosure.
