The film, based on real facts, takes us to Latvia at the end of the 1990s, where the winds of freedom begin to be felt during political changes. The film's heroine Alicija, based on the life of journalist and politician Ita Kozakevič, is a 30-year-old Latvian of Polish origin who, despite the conservative views of her new husband Ilgvars, gets involved in the activities of the People's Front and aspires to become a member of the Supreme Council of Latvia. On her successful journey towards freedom, Alicia receives an anonymous letter that makes her reconsider who she can really trust. N-13
"My freedom" is the debut feature film of Latvian director Ilze Kunga-Melgailė, which premiered at the Tallinn Film Festival. The film was chosen as Latvia's candidate for the Oscars this year. At the Latvian Film Awards, actor Darius Meškauskas was awarded for the best supporting role.
