Emacimon (絵巻物) - this is since the 8th century. The traditional parchment or silk roll used in Japan, used to convey legends or historical events, combined calligraphy and illustrations. Because the emacimone allows images to be continuously curled in one even line, these texts are considered to be peculiar precursors of animation.
In these truly unique workshops, we invite you this time to become not book illustrators, but to make bookbinds and make your own emacimon, which you can later fill with expensive stories or drawings.
During the workshop, you will tell you about the subtleties of emacimon production and will be accompanied by Inga Eičaitė - East London Printmakers Graphic Studies and People of Print Union, a member of Vilnius and London. Japanese traditional wood carving press, artistic art and bookbinding.
All necessary tools will be given to the workshop.
You take your own emacimon roller from the workshop. After the workshop, participants will receive educational materials that will help the emacimonas to produce themselves
We recommend adults, but the most patient youth is also welcome;)
April 13 2pm Mokuhanga Press Workshop
Mokuhanga (木版画) is a traditional Japanese graphics technique that is carved in a tree and then manually printed using natural pigments and rice glue-based paints. This technique is famous for its subtle color layering options and a unique sense of aesthetics.
During the workshop, participants will learn about Mokuhanga's history, press principles, tools and materials, all Mokuhanga technique and features. After the theoretical part, participants will have the opportunity to print the carvings themselves using pre -made wood blocks and thus create a unique graphic work.
Workshop will be hosted by Inga Eičaitė - East London Printmakers Graphic Studies and People of Print Union, who has been living and creating a classic grafting with Mokuhanga for many years between Vilnius and London. Bookbinding.
All necessary tools will be given to the workshop. You will take your own workshops from the workshops to Mokuhanga technique, and the supervisor will share an educational material presented during the workshop.

Inga pay much attention to hand production paper and its use. He works mainly with black and white in his work, explores the importance of negative space through the combination of Japanese wood carving + etching, deconstructs celestial bodies, their linear structures that are re -integrated into new systems, observe how it could affect the imaginary environment and possible abnormalities by changing natural life cycles.
2022 - 2024 Inga spent a lot of time in Japan:
MI-LAB (Mokuhanga Innovation Lab), where she went into Mokuhanga and its technique. In this residence, after receiving the LKT scholarship, Inga managed to participate twice. At the foot of Fujikawaguchik, at the foot of Mount Fuji, Inga focused not only Mokuhanges, but also bookbinding -Ori -Hon "Accordion Books" In a town that is famous for its spectacular heritage of traditional paper Washi production.
