Sashik was born in the spirit of textile cherishing.
Japanese technique with its simplicity, functionality and beauty has been used to decorate, reinforce, deceive worn -out clothes or creatively use the existing werests. ornaments that you can later apply to everyday life.
Workshops Rūta Žinienė. It sews this technique for seven years. It uses it in his daily routine, adapting clothes or improvising in personal textiles. According to her, Sashiko is more than adhesion, it is very meditative and at the same time everyday, practical, even activist activity. At the same time, it is a great brain exercise because Sahiko is very different from conventional embroidery.
In Japan, it is said that Sashik is impossible to fully describe in words - much like meditation. Sashiko needs to be practiced and experienced.
All necessary tools for the workshop will be provided.
We recommend participants from the age of 13.
The duration of the event: about 2 hours
Workshop will take place in the Asian Arts Center, Užupis, Krivių g. 12 (UMI).
The event can be photographed or filmed and the recorded material is publicized.
