The idea of ​​reviving the tango pieces played in Lithuania during the interwar period on the stage of the Vilnius Tango Theater has been brewing for a long time. Tango, born in Argentina, crossed the ocean and wandered around Europe in the 20th century. at the beginning he also wandered into Lithuania. Here he was met ambiguously - he was both admired and resented, just like everywhere else.

Vilnius Tango Theater, which has been enthralling the audience with impressive Argentine tango performances for ten years, has realized an old dream and together with "LILA TRIO" invites you to a special evening dedicated to Lithuania's Independence Day. And it's no coincidence - tango is a dance of freedom that finds a place in the minds and hearts of free people.

For the first time in the history of the theater, tango is spoken in Lithuanian - revealing the beauty, elegance and passion of the tango songs sung by the legendary interwar creators Danielius Dolskis and Antanas Šabaniauskas. . These works will be revived on the stage of the Vilnius Tango Theater with the movements of the dancers and the voices of the singers Lauryna Labutytė and Greta Švedkauskė.

This show confirms a little-known but important truth: tango was danced and sung in Lithuania as early as the interwar period, just a few decades after it. of origin in Argentina.
