Eight-year-old Melina lives with her loving grandparents in Isfahan, Iran. Her parents are divorced, but neither mother nor father can take care of their daughter. When the girl turns nine, she has an idea: Melina wants to start legal proceedings for her own custody.
Fighting for her childhood, she lovingly scolds her mother, annoys her father with incessant calls and amuses herself by painting her grandfather's nails. The film intertwines serious conflicts, difficult telephone conversations and children's games. It is a fresh and vibrant perspective that complements the rich tradition of Iranian cinema, sensitively revealing the collision between the pure world of children and the complicated reality of adults.
