The Forest Generation is a cinematic ode to the youth who strive to protect Finland's forests. In doing so, Ida, Minka, Otto and their activist friends confront the interests of the forestry industry and the political system, as well as the deep-rooted ideology that sees the forest as the foundation of the Finnish economy. Although they are consulted when making decisions (unlike in many other European countries), this does not produce results, so they decide to take another - direct - action.
This film is a testimony that change is inevitable and that these stories will end - "happily ever after" or ecological catastrophe - rests on the shoulders of young people. Because they are a forest generation that does not have the luxury of not thinking about the ecological future. N-13

"Awkward Cinema" - since 2007 an annual international human rights documentary film festival. This is a non-commercial event that aims to create a space on the topics of human rights, politics, social responsibility, sustainability, and to familiarize the public with global issues. With a program of films and events, the festival aims to inspire to change the reality around us. This year, "Awkward Cinema" will take place from October 8 to 27.
