After graduating from university, Asia and Marek bought a shack near the eastern border of Poland. Here, in the oldest forest in Europe - Bialowieza Forest, the couple has created their own paradise over the years - a space where their children can grow up safely, away from the problems of the modern world. But one day everything changes. Refugees, unwanted by neither Polish nor Belarusian authorities, stumble into the forest. Despite the controversial border laws, a Polish family together with their young children helps people survive.
The new reality affects the children's world: they no longer play knights and princesses, but refugees and border guards. The growing humanitarian crisis at the EU border invades the safe space of the family. And the world will never be the same again. N-13

"Awkward Cinema" - since 2007 an annual international human rights documentary film festival. This is a non-commercial event that aims to create a space on the topics of human rights, politics, social responsibility, sustainability, and to familiarize the public with global issues. With a program of films and events, the festival aims to inspire to change the reality around us. This year, "Awkward Cinema" will take place from October 8 to 27.
