Pazaislis Festival invites you to an extraordinary musical meeting with American jazz star Nicole Zuraitis, who won this year's Grammy awards.

NICOLE ZURAITIS, who was born in the USA but has Lithuanian roots, is not only a talented pianist, a composer who has released three solo albums, but also the vocalist of the world-famous group "Birdland Big Band" and Litchfield Jazz Camp faculty member, leading songwriting and jazz vocal workshops around the world. N. Zuraitis is a laureate of many jazz competitions, during her musical career she has collaborated with such musicians as Cyrille Aimee, Thana Alexa, Dave Stryker, Tom Chapin, Omar Hakim, Melanie Safka, Helen Sung, etc. The last years in the artist's musical career have been extremely successful: the latest, in 2018. released, the modern jazz album "Hive Mind" won the international award for the best jazz album, and for its version of the famous Dolly Parton song "Jolene", created with her husband musician Dan Pugach, it was nominated for the best instrumental arrangement, accompanied by the prestigious "Grammy" awards in the category of vocalist or vocalists. Due to his charisma, strong vocals and performances that deeply touch the listeners, N. Zuraitis, who is especially loved by his compatriots living in the USA, can be proud of his Lithuanian origin today thanks to his grandfather Danielius Zuraitis, who emigrated to the USA with his parents, Juozaps and Ona, in 1909. When the performer grew up, the real reason for leaving her great-grandparents' homeland became clear - Daniel's mother was a Lithuanian Jew, so the Zuraičiai settled in the United States while fleeing the persecution of the Jews. N. Zuraitis still maintains contact with the Lithuanian Consulate in New York, participates in various events organized by them and Lithuanians in the United States. Her record "How Love Begins" became the best vocal jazz album and brought her the first "Grammy" award.

The artist will perform at the Pazaislis festival with the KAUNOS BIGBAND. This collective is an active participant of Lithuanian musical life and jazz festivals, original programs, with which the best jazz instrumentalists and vocalists of the country and guests from abroad cooperate. The four-decade-old big band is always looking for unexpected connections. Listeners have become memorable programs with violin virtuoso and composer Line Kruse (Denmark),  pianist Peter Beets (Netherlands), singer Claire Martin (United Kingdom), rising Finnish star Maja Mannila, theatrical singer and composer Hilde Louise Asbjørnsen (Norway), intellectual French jazz singer David Linx, etc. These are just some of the last year's musical events presented by the Kaunas Big Band and the Kaunas Santaka concert institution.
