Tonight, the Baltic Guitar Quartet, which is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its creative activity, will perform on the stage of the Kaunas Philharmonic.

Twenty years ago, the quartet was formed by four students of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. Five years later, a guitarist from Belgium joined them and the current lineup of the quartet was formed: Zigma Čepulėnas, Sergejus Krinicins, Saulius S. Lipčius and Chris Ruebens. The quartet's concert list includes more than 25 countries around the world and prestigious halls such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Royal Palace in Warsaw, Southbank Center and St. St. James's Church in London, Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing, as well as prestigious European festivals: Iserlohn Guitar Symposium, Saitenspruenge (Germany), Martisshor International Music Festival (Moldova), Flanders Music Festival (Belgium), Paganini Festival (Italy), Probaltica Festival (Poland), Cyprus International Guitar Festival (Cyprus), Fiesta de la guitarra (Estonia ) etc.

Baltic Guitar Quartet's program consists of various works from Renaissance to contemporary music. In search of a unique sound and new pieces not performed by ensembles of this composition, the musicians included various pieces of music arranged by themselves in the program. The repertoire of the quartet is constantly supplemented by Ch. The work of Ruebens. Composers Jurgis Juozapaitis, Giedrius Kuprevičius, Jonas Tamulionis dedicated works especially to this ensemble. On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary, Mindaugas Stumbras and Nejcas Kuharas dedicated the works to the quartet.

The original repertoire accumulated during twenty years of musical journey will be reflected in the program of this concert, including the first and latest written for the quartet by Ch. Ruebens' piece and M. Stumbro's piece for quartet created especially for this occasion. The program will also include works from the quartet's older albums "Dancing with Guitar", "Tradicion nuevo" and the latest album "Pievu taku".
