This year, we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Edmundas Alfonso Frykas, a prominent interwar Lithuanian engineer and architect, designer of the Kaunas State Philharmonic building (1876-about 1944) who was born in Kaunas. In the fall, we open our doors again for a special excursion dedicated to this occasion.

During the excursion, you will get to know not only the most monumental masterpiece of this distinguished Lithuanian modernist architect - the philharmonic building, but also learn more about E. A. Frykas' other projects in Kaunas and their significance for the architectural face of the city.

The personality of the architect itself is no less interesting - it will be revealed not only by the creative E. The legacy of A. Frykos, but also the story of his life, which ended in the same way as many interwar Lithuanian intellectuals, when talented people were swept away by historical events.

Today, the name of E. A. Frykos is inseparable from Kaunas modernism, included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, and his contribution to Lithuanian architecture is indisputable, both for the designed objects of national significance, and for the exceptional creative design and magnificent buildings spanning a century. and connecting the present with the past.
