Art and music are strongly related to historical events, for centuries they have been reflecting human experience and global processes like a mirror. A romantic program by ANDREJS OSOKINS, one of the most outstanding Latvian pianists of the young generation, is dedicated to two 19th-century artists. created by prominent composers. The first is Fryderyk Chopin, whose life was greatly affected and disrupted by the Russian invasion of his homeland. After this event, the composer never returned to Poland and composed music in exile until his death. The second composer of this evening is the German romantic and F. Chopin's friend Robert Schumann.
The program will be permeated by masculine, powerful, but at the same time gentle and full of love F .Chopin's piano music, which often features Polish folk melodies, dances and a strong, independent spirit. The music written in exile at the concert radiates the composer's deep love for the homeland - which is closely related to our times, when many Ukrainians had to leave their country and become refugees due to Russian aggression.
R. Schumann's piano music is a real window into the composer's soul. It, like a diary, allows you to get acquainted with the difficulties, victories and creative journeys experienced by the composer. One of his most emotionally intense works is "Fantasia", a technically and emotionally complex work that requires not only virtuosity, but also a deep musical sensitivity. R. Schumann created the composition in a moment of sincere inspiration, being far from his beloved Clara Wieck, who later became his wife. Čiurlionis' 150th anniversary, the pianist will include his work in the program.
A., winner of the world's most famous competitions. Osokins has charisma and powerful musical intelligence. Critics unanimously praise it for its expressive sound palette and particularly evocative music. He is the founder and artistic director of the annual Osokins Freedom Festival in Latvia, an associate member of the Royal Academy of Music in London and a member of Trinity College of Music in London. in 2008 the pianist was awarded Latvia's highest musical prize - the Great Music Award, and in 2023 he was awarded the highest Latvian state award - the Order of Three Stars for his charitable activities and organizing concerts.
