The concert program of the talented pianist Ieva Jokubavičiūtė will feature the works of the composer of the Romantic era, Johannes Brahms, and contemporary piano music - the works of the Lithuanian Raminta Šerkšnytė and the American Scott Lindroth.
Presenting her program, the performer says: "Small forms and cycles have always fascinated me with their bright, concentrated ideas. A composer, focusing on a musical or technical idea (in the case of an etude), like a haiku poet, tries to convey an idea as colorfully as possible in just a few lines. By juxtaposing modern etudes for piano with the plays of the Romantic master of small forms, J. Brahms, I hope to reveal both the color and a lyrical and virtuosic treasure trove of piano music."
Pianist I. JOKUBAVIČIUTĖ is famous for her impressive performances and has won critical acclaim: she is described as having a "sharp mind and wit" (The Washington Post) and as "a performer who combines impressive technique, refined temperament and convincing insight" (New York Times). in 2021 I. Jokubavičiūtė's latest album "Northscapes" released by "Sono Luminus", where 21st century music is performed. The works of composers from Northern Europe and the Baltic countries were described by the magazine "Gramophone" as "a charming, harmonious program performed with attention-grabbing, subtle virtuosity... Although the works are different, I. Jokubavičiūtė manages to perform each of them masterfully."
It was the artist's recital programs and recording projects that brought her to the important stages of big cities in the USA and Europe. She performs throughout America, Japan, India, tours extensively in Europe, and regularly appears at international music festivals around the world.
I. Jokubavičiūtė graduated from Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia and Mannes College of Music in New York. From 2020 she is an associate professor of piano practice at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
