ÁSTOR PIAZZOLLA - String arrangements of Libertango, S.V.P., Adios Nonino and other works
Have you ever been to Buenos Aires? Have you ever seen passionate tango dancing on the pitches in the courtyards of taverns? Have you had to listen to street music until dawn, watch various performances, see relaxed townspeople with a glass of wine and a smoking cigar between their fingers? If you haven't had such an opportunity yet, the KAUNOS STRING QUARTET together with guitarist SERGEJUMI KRINICINUS and dancers STEFANIJA NOSOVAITE and MARTYNU ČIUČIULKA will take you there with a colorful theatrical musical program.
The program will feature two suites by Argentinian composer and guitarist Máximo Diego Pujola, extremely interesting in their content. The first suite - "Guernica" (lit. Guernica) - is based on the work of the same name by Pablo Picasso. The artist painted the picture after the Basque city of Guernica was mercilessly bombed with thousands of shells in 1937. During the Spanish Revolution. P. Picasso's contemporaries recalled: "Although the artist had never been to Guernica, the news of the city's destruction hit him like a bull's horn."
The second is the Buenos Aires Suite - it's like a walk around the capital of Argentina. The parts of the suite are named after the neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, which, in the composer's opinion, have a unique atmosphere, which he conveyed in his composition.
By the way, Argentinians claim that they are the pioneers of the tango dance, precisely in the districts of Buenos Aires, and tango is believed to have been born. The truth is that everyone can dance: from a child to a grandfather, from a local resident to a tourist. This is the kind of art where the viewer is not just an observer, he joins the rhythm of the dance and becomes a part of it. Therefore, when these suites are played on stage, the audience will see the content of these works - sensual, colorful and rhythmic illustrations, which will be performed by two talented dancers. Not only dance, but also theater will be born on the stage.
It is no coincidence that next to the Argentinian composer's suites, the Kaunas String Quartet will play arrangements of the famous Ástor Piazzolla's most popular works, including the famous "Libertango" (lit. Tango of Freedom).
