The legendary dark jazz group "The Lovecraft Sextet" is coming to Lithuania this year, where they will perform in two cities - Vilnius, St. Catherine's Church (April 30), and in Kaunas, at the "Oldman" club (May 1). These concerts will be a unique opportunity for listeners to immerse themselves in dark and atmospheric music, where jazz, ambient and gothic elements merge.

THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET is one of the many projects of multi-instrumentalist Jason Köhnen. He became known for his previous projects BONG-RA, THE KILIMANJARO DARKJAZZ ENSEMBLE and THE MOUNT FUJI DOOMJAZZ CORPORATION.

Köhnen coined the term "Darkjazz" in 1999 when he created a track titled "Darkjazz" on his 2001 "Darkbreaks" EP. From this moment he began a long musical journey, exploring the dark experimental palettes of jazz sounds, combining them with various other genres.

THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET came about after the end of his other darkjazz projects, primarily "TKDE" and " TMFDJC" and then the short-lived project "THE THING WITH FIVE EYES", where Köhnen first experimented with Arabic scales and instruments. Köhnen's approach to the work of THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET is to open up the entire spectrum of darkjazz with all its mysterious aspects.

He treats each album as a script and soundtrack for a different film, setting a different pace and atmosphere, playing with unusual combinations of climaxes and atmospheres. The project brings together a host of talented guest musicians to star in these 'non-existent' films, all of whom play a crucial role in the soundtracks of these 'non-existent' films.

THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET releases albums through Denovali Records and Debemur Morti Productions publishing house, where this project "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" aspect reaches its best and most creative expression.

In addition to conceptual audio recordings, THE LOVECRAFT SEXTET also explores multidisciplinary art forms. The release of In Memoriam marks the first project in a series of short stories and audiobooks combined with an album. In the future, projects combining more art disciplines will be published.

The performance in St. Catherine's Church in Vilnius and "Oldman" club in Kaunas - this is a real challenge for those who are looking for not only music, but also an emotional experience created by a unique sound world.
