Closing concert of the ALIMA VII International Rimvydas Žigaitis Arts Festival dedicated to World Culture Day.
We invite you to a cozy and meaningful musical evening dedicated to one of the most prominent Lithuanian poets - Justin Marcinkevičius. The concert will feature songs based on his lines - both well-known and loved by the audience, as well as less frequently heard or completely new, composed by composers Galina Savinienė, Giedrius Kuprevičius, Benjamin Gorbulskis, Gintautas Tautkaus, Laimis Vilkončius and other authors. For more than two decades, we have been constantly returning to the work of Justin Marcinkevičius in our concerts, so this evening will not only be a journey of music, but also of personal memories and reflections. We will share thoughts about the poet, the meaning and place of his work in our lives, about how his verses matured in our hearts and on the stage during long years of communication with listeners. Singer Liudas Mikalauskas conveys J. Marcinkevičius's poetry with special sensitivity and evocativeness, and pianist Beata Vingraitė has a close relationship with the poet's work since childhood. This communion gives the concert a unique sincerity and authenticity. In commemoration of the fifteenth anniversary of the poet's death, we have released a vinyl record, which features songs created solely based on the lyrics of Justin Marcinkevičius. During the concert, we will not only present this special publication to Lithuanian listeners, but also invite you to listen to the poet's words once again, which even today speak about man, love, the Motherland and hope.
