IN THE PROGRAM: works from an anthology of Pauline Oliveros' text scores
Pauline Oliveros (1932–2016) is an American composer and accordionist, one of the most prominent of the 20th century. figures of experimental and electronic music of the second half. The artist, who lived in California and later in New York, became famous for works such as "Deep Listening" and "Sonic Meditations". 20th century in the middle of the mass protests against the war in Vietnam, she was looking for new forms of activism aimed at individualized listening experience, tried to move from sound transcendence to sound contemplation, to create a unique practice of activism. According to her, the act of listening is inseparable from the willful effort that empowers the body. All this later became the basis for text scores and etudes intended for both professionals and amateurs. The compositions united artists from various fields and opened new forms of collective music making. The musicians of the Lithuanian ensemble network and the IEMA ensemble will perform pieces from the Anthology of Text Scores by P. Oliveras.
