The Kintai Music Festival, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, presents a concert that offers a fresh, unexpected musical gaze to the legacy of this creator.
Petras Geniušas and Liudas Mockūnas' project "Sea in the forest", studying the creative heritage of composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, created by prominent Lithuanian artists - pianist Petras Geniušas (b. 1961) and saxophonist Liudas Mockūnas (born 1976).
At this meeting of two legendary musicians, M. K. Čiurlionis' music (specifically his piano creation) serves as a source of inspiration, or, more precisely, as a springboard, which is resisted and not spoken to the "sea" of subjective musical associations.
The musical world created by the duo does not fit into one musical style; It contains romantic, impressionist, contemporary classical, jazz and free improvisational music. This whole field of original associations could be described by a project compared to a kind of labyrinth of the 19th, 20th century musical idioms in the 19th century, where both musicians wander, discovering new, unexpected turns and meeting the same exits to M. K. Čiurlionis' music spaces.
The project was presented in Moldova, Japan, Denmark, USA, Russian Federation, Ukraine, Estonia, Georgia, Romania, Belgium, Armenia, Azerbaijan.
2013 The Lithuanian Music Information Center released a CD in the Sea forest (LMIPC CD 076). - transferred vinyl format.
