"Tapers of the Twentieth Century" | Closing of the festival
Event location: Community House | NIDA
CINEMUSIQUE: Charlie Chaplin XXI
When in 1931 during the premiere of Charlie Chaplin's new film, two great men of the 20th century met. geniuses Albert Einstein and Ch. Chaplin, the father of the theory of relativity, said: "What fascinates me the most in your art is the universality. You don't say a word, and the whole world understands you!" To this, the great genius of silent cinema replied: "The truth. But Your glory is even greater! The world admires You, even though it doesn't understand a single word of Yours."
The music of the streets and cafes, which fascinated me in my childhood, quickly found its way to Ch. Chaplin's films. Perhaps this secret love for simple but heartfelt music determined that even seventeen years after the release of the first dubbed film, he maintained the boundary between silent and talking cinema, as if saying: words are the language of hate, silence is the language of love. Maybe because of this love, he was the first to synchronize the music he created with the mise-en-scenes he directed and acted. But it was a different language - the language of music, highlighting with a sensitive counterpoint the hero's efforts to find at least a drop of human warmth and sensitivity in the confusion of current life. At the beginning of the age of sound cinema, Ch. Chaplin was the first to purposefully include music in the dramaturgy of the film.
The familiar and cute image of a vagabond - wide trousers, big boots, a tattered jacket and a frayed boiler - promises the audience extraordinary experiences, fun minutes and the triumph of an ordinary person against the chaos of life. The "N žemina" festival invites the listeners to a journey in the footsteps of a romantic artist to remember Ch. The strength of Chaplin's human being.
The program will feature Ch. Chaplin's songs and music together with excerpts from the movies "Mazylis", "New Times", "Lights of the City", and the evening will be crowned by the entire virtuoso performance of Ch. Screening of Chaplin's The Circus with a live performance by Ch. Music created by Chaplin.
