Between preludes and postmodern pauses, classics and jazz meet.
On the 150th anniversary of the birth of M. K. Čiurlionis, two music alchemists-pianist Dmitry Golovanov and saxophonist Jan Maksimovich-go on a trip after the composers. Preludes are moved from the museum shelf to a lively instrument conversation. The harmony of the piano breathes and sounds expressive with a little jazz charm. The impression is, like a well -known classic, an academic at a concert, constantly adds to two Bohemian philosophers, and their dialogue is surprised and fascinated.
The program was prepared by jazz performers - saxophonist Jan Maksimovich and pianist Dmitry Golovanov. D. Golovanov is a jazz labyrinth architect, one of the most prominent Lithuanian jazz pianists. J. Maksimovich is the philosopher of the saxophone, for whom each note becomes a musical insight.
Preludes are a musical experiment in which classics, jazz and improvisation sit at one table. This duo, which is almost a telepathic connection, gives meaning to Čiurlionis' music by transferring it to large improvisational forms. Golovanov and Maxovich choose Čiurlionis' language, his harmonic codes and thoughts. Music is rethought - as a conversation between epochs, between lines, between good and beauty.
The concert is the premiere of the new CD After Čiurlionis (2025). The plate is one of this year's necessary cultural trophies.
