August 18 An evening of cello music will be held at the Palanga Amber Museum, where the young generation artist Augustas Gocentas will perform - a bright Lithuanian cellist who is actively building an international career. Born in Vilnius, into a family of musicians, the cellist grew up in an intense cultural environment since childhood. Palanga is also close to the artist personally - he spent many summers here, related to both musical projects and beautiful family traditions.
M. A pupil of the K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, he later completed his bachelor's and master's studies at the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Finland, and from 2024. is a member of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra. A. Gocentas collaborates with the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO), "Kremerata Baltica", "Baltic Sea Philharmonic", is an intern at the Helsinki Philharmonic, appears at European and Asian festivals and is a laureate of many international competitions.
The evening program will feature significant pieces from the cello repertoire, revealing the stylistic and technical diversity of the instrument: J. S. Bach Suite No. 6, "La Folia" by M. Stahel, "Erlkönig" by F. Schubert, Sonata for solo cello by E. Ysaÿe and Siuita for solo cello by G. Cassadó.
This is an extremely intense solo program that combines baroque polyphonic logic, romantic expression and the modernist, virtuosic musical language of the 20th century.
