August 20 The Palanga Amber Museum will host a concert "Music of the Heart", where two mature artists will meet - soprano Asta Krikščiūnaitė and pianist Ilona Beres (Canada). Both performers have accumulated solid international recognition, but they will appear as a duo at the "Voices of the World" festival for the first time, giving this evening a special highlight of the premiere.
Asta Krikščiūnaitė is one of the most prominent Lithuanian sopranos, who actively performs abroad and consistently nurtures the traditions of chamber vocal art. Ilona Beres is a pianist living in Canada, appreciated for her delicate stylistic sense and sensitive collaboration with vocalists. Their musical dialogue in Palanga will create a chamber, lyrical and emotionally open space.
The evening program will feature a colorful mosaic of piano and vocal works: L. van Beethoven's Sonata in C sharp minor, op. 27 no. 2 ("Moons"), F. Chopin's Polonaise in A flat major, op. 53, "Dance of Fire" by Manuel de Fallo and songs from the cycle "Seven Spanish Folk Songs" (Siete canciones populares españolas). The listeners will also hear R. Schumann's songs "Widmung" and "Der Nussbaum" and the outstanding highlight of the program - F. Chopin's Etude op. 10 no. 3 ("Tristesse") vocal version, which will give the evening a rarely performed musical color.
This refined chamber music evening will undoubtedly leave a deep mark in the history of this year's festival, and sensitively selected vocal and instrumental opuses will give the audience a memorable aesthetic discovery.
