Concert of XII International M.K. Čiurlionis Music Festival

International M.K. Čiurlionis Music Festival presents GODOWSKY DUO, two world-renowned masters - legendary pianist Mūza Rubackytė (Lithuania-France-Switzerland) and violin virtuoso Dmitry Makhtin (Netherlands). . After the success and awards given for the CD (Diapason d'Or, 5* Classica, ffff Télérama) featuring works by Leopold Godowsky and Karol Szymanowsky. The performers offer the Lithuanian audience a program called «Belle époque» (Wonderful Epoch). Famous as a pianist, Godowsky also composed many rarely performed works for piano and violin. During this concert, the works of the Vilnius-born composer will be performed in the company of Johannes Brahms and Karolis Szymanowsky, practically all three contemporaries. Waltzes, sonatas, caprices and nocturnes will captivate listeners in this interweaving of works full of sophistication, seduction, dreams and virtuosity.
