A. Mickevičius's visit to Palanga was fateful both for the creator himself and for the city. In July 1824, A. Mickevičius came to this resort town to be treated for his deteriorating health and, most likely, he saw the sea for the first time in his life, which left an indelible impression on the poet. Roaring sea, wide sandy beaches, dunes, trees and sand, clean air, swimming strengthened body and soul, encouraged creativity. The stay did not last long, but even after leaving, A. Mickevičius did not forget Palanga and became the first poet to tell the world about the beauty of this city.
In 1828 in the published poem "Konradas Valenrodas" he wrote: "...But on that coast of Palanga, where the sea noisily splashes white with its breasts and pours foamy sand flowing from the mouth..."
The family of Counts Tiškevičius, who ruled Palanga at that time, also did not forget the poet's visit and built two villas named after the heroes of his poems, "Aldona" from "Konrad Valenrod" and "Gražina" from the work of the same name. will be revealed by famous Polish performers.
