Art and music have accompanied historical events for centuries, subtly and powerfully reacting to them, becoming both a mirror of human experiences and a reflection of global processes. The concert program, which will be presented by Latvian pianist Andrejs Osokins, is dedicated to one of the greatest composers of the 19th century - Frederic Chopin, whose life was directly affected and disrupted by Russia's military actions in his native country. After this invasion, he never returned to Poland and made music in exile until his death.

The program will be permeated by the masculine, powerful, yet gentle and loving piano music of Chopin, in which Polish folk melodies, dances and echoes of a strong, independent spirit are often heard. Popular miniatures - waltzes, mazurkas and etudes, as well as ballads and polonaises - will be played during the concert. In this concert, you will hear the music that Chopin composed in exile, expressing his deep longing for his homeland. These works are extremely relevant even today, when many Ukrainians were forced to leave their country and become refugees due to Russian aggression.

Robert Schumann's piano music is a window into the composer's soul. Like a diary, it gives a glimpse into his personal struggles, triumphs and creative journeys. One of his most emotionally intense works is Fantasia, a technically and emotionally complex piece that requires both virtuosity and deep musical sensitivity to perform. Schuman wrote this piece in a moment of sincere inspiration, being divorced from his beloved Clara Wieck, who later became his wife.

In honor of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the great Lithuanian composer Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis anniversary, the pianist will also include works by this composer in the program.
