Panevėžys Musical Theater on September 5. 6 p.m. invites you to spend the evening with Roks Valuntonis, the famous piano virtuoso of Panevėžys. The man from Panevėžys, currently living in London and intensively performing all over the world, promises an exceptional solo recital.

This is the only concert planned by R. Valuntonis in Lithuania this fall. Listeners will hear Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata No. 8, Op. 13, Robert Schumann's Carnival, Op. 9 and his wife Clara Schumann's Three Romances, Op. 21. The pianist is intrigued by the fact that he has prepared for the concert Marianna von Martinez's Sonata in G major, which has probably never been performed in Lithuania.

"Classical music will be played, some works will be heard, some probably not. The program is also special in that it contains the work of couples - men and women - who created it at the same time," says R. Valuntonis about the prepared concert. The 36-year-old from Panevėžys has been receiving ovations for many years not only in the biggest concert halls of Lithuania, but also in Europe and other continents. He performed with the Lithuanian National Symphony, Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, St. Kristoforos chamber orchestra, Lund symphony orchestra, Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater symphony orchestra conducted by Juoz Domark, Lutz Kohler, Donatas Katkas, Olivier Grangean, Modest Barkauskas and others.

The native of Panevėžys is actively invited to festivals organized in various countries, and has already become a laureate of more than 20 international competitions. He has won the Queen Martha Prize (2004), the 1st prize and a Bluthner piano at the international competition "International Nordic piano competition" in Malmö, Sweden (2010), the 2nd prize at the International M.K. Čiurlionis Piano Competition in Vilnius (2011) , the 1st prize at the international competition "Società Umanitaria" in Milan, Italy (2013), the 1st prize and the audience prize at the international piano competition in Campillo, Spain, the Young Musician Award of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania (2020). For his high achievements in music, the pianist was awarded with the thanks of the President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkaus and President Dalia Grybauskaitė. Having accumulated knowledge and experience, the pianist took up pedagogical activities. As a teacher, he is included in the prestigious London artist program "City Music Foundation", which cultivates young talents in the field of art, and organizes master classes for students in Portugal.

Rokas was born and grew up in Panevėžys. From the age of seven, he studied in the piano class of the Panevėžys Children's Music School, then at the Panevėžys Conservatory. in 2008 graduated from the National M.K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, 2008-2014. studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. The talented native of Panevėžys studied in Helsinki, the Sibelius Academy, the Paris High School of Music "La Schola Cantorum", the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Attended master classes with famous musicians Jerome Lowenthalis, Konstantinas Papadakis, Denis Pascalis, Petras Geniušas, Mūza Rubackytė. "Panevėžys is my home, I lived here until I was 16 years old, my parents, teachers, and relatives stayed here. I believe that many people from Panevėžys who miss me will come to the concert," says R.
