November 16 6 p.m. An evening of music by Antonín Dvořák dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Panevėžys Musical Theater will be held in the Panevėžys Musical Theatre. Pianist Petras Geniušas, one of the most outstanding performers of Lithuanian piano music, and the Panevėžys String Quartet - Asta Striogaitė-Puodžiūnienė (1st violin), Diana Labudienė (2nd violin), Girdutis Jakaitis (viola) and Rokas Vizbaras (cello) will take part.
The concert program includes several popular pieces by Dvořák. The first part will feature three Slavic dances (No. 1 and No. 8, op. 46, and No. 2, op. 72), adapted for string quartet, in the second - the magnificent Piano Quintet No. 2, Op. 81 in A major, which will be performed together with the Panevėžys String Quartet by pianist P. Geniušas.
"The piano quintet is one of the most famous and beautiful examples of this genre ever created. It is full of romance, joyful and deep at the same time. This is a complex piece that requires mastery", says P. Geniušas, who will perform for the first time with the Panevėžys String Quartet.
Maestro Petras Geniušas is an exceptionally versatile performer who has mastered a wide range of classical and a repertoire of contemporary works, constantly looking for new, often risky, forms of expression, unusual musical and spiritual experiences. He organizes recitals and performs as a soloist with Lithuanian symphony orchestras, various chamber ensembles and soloists. The pianist can be seen on stage accompanying drama performances, ballet or even cabaret, participating in projects that cross jazz and various musical styles.
1997 the gathered Panevėžys string quartet perfectly combines experience and youthful vigor. The creative field of talented musicians A. Striogaitė-Puodžiūnienė, D. Labudienė, G. Jakaitis and R. Vizbara includes both classical pearls and modern experimental music, works of various eras, genres and styles, including entertaining and jazz compositions. Every year, the quartet prepares several different programs, often performing with other performers.
Antonín Dvořák is one of the most prominent Czech composers, a representative of romanticism. In his works, he expertly combined classics with features of national music, he liked to experiment. His opera "Mermaid" became especially famous.
