The most important thing is not to please the listener, but to attract his attention to what is expensive and close to Lithuanian culture, ”says Leonardas Pilkauskas, who specially prepared interesting arrangements of Lithuanian composers for this project.

l. The musical path of Pilkauskas - saxophonist, clarinetist, flutist, composer and arrangement - stretches through European jazz scenes. After completing his studies in Hague and Amsterdam, he actively performs, creates, arranges and currently teaches the younger generation in Lithuania.

Jazz style will be performed by Lithuanian classics compositions: Bali Dvarionas Elegy ("At the Lake"), Julius Juzeliūnas "African Sketches", Mikalojus Novikas' song "Foots".

Listeners will also hear the works of Leonardas Pilkauskas himself. The original conveying jazz counterfockets from his album "Never Be another Antwerp" (There Will Never Be Another Antwerp) are particularly intriguing. 2024. In the summer, the album recorded in Belgium, along with the jazz virtuoso of that country, is a subtle tribute to the city of Antwerp inspired by its vibrant and friendly spirits.

But the most important concert will be lively, spontaneous jazz improvisation. It will be created by L. Pilkauskas and his colleagues from Belgium: drummer Jelle van Giel, double bassist Cyrille Obermüller and keyboard virtuoso Ewout Pierreux. The powerful sound improvisations will be strengthened by the Panevezys Musical Theater Wind Orchestra "Sound" conducted by Martynas Bražas.
