"Slabodkės Vyšnelė" is a warm and nostalgic musical performance by actor and musician Dominyks Vaitiekūnas, in which real stories from the life of Dominyks and his family sound.
Relatives' party at Uncle Antanas' garage, the gang of Doctors rampaging in Kaunas, adventures in a Soviet women's prison, a carpet on the wall and early 90's businesses, which were engaged in by relatives as soon as Lithuania regained its independence. These are just a few details that decorate the story and make the spectators of the performance smile and laugh, and later wipe away a tear when they hear that beneath the fun details of life lie the not always easy destinies of people.
The performance was born after a 27-year break after visiting his aunt Genute, whose house in Vilijampole seemed to Dominyk like a fairyland or the most distant and luxurious foreign country. In 1994, the store "Vyšnelė" opened by my aunt was like a gateway to the western world: imported sweets and boxes of the favorite chewing gum "LOVE IS", as evidence of a luxurious life.
Random social. Genutė's invitation to be friends on Facebook prompts Dominykas to go on a date with his aunt and together with her, while browsing his memory, try to find answers to questions that were discussed in the family behind closed doors.
The work was created in cooperation with the Kaunas 2022 festival.
