"Gardens of Silence and Water" (Seijaku to Mizu no Teien) is an afternoon of exhibition and concert, inviting to a delicate dialogue between Lithuanian and Japanese cultures through the world of M.K. Čiurlionis's work, mythology and music.
The event presents the projections of watercolor works by artist Kotrynas Šešelgytė inspired by Japanese myths, in which ancient Japanese stories are interpreted through the Čiurlionian language of light, symbols and imagination. The visual part will be accompanied by a live music program, which will include works by M. K. Čiurlionis, Japanese composers, Lithuanian traditional music and sutra music, revealing unexpected harmonies of different cultures. The concert program is performed by Elena Šešelgytė (piano), Dalia Šešelgienė (violin) and Marija Šešelgytė (viola).
Through sight, sound and mythological stories, the event will invite you to experience what unites different traditions - respect for nature, the beauty of silence, the symbolism of light and the human connection with the world. It is a sensitive, interdisciplinary
artistic experience where Eastern and Baltic cultural sensibilities, music and visual arts, tradition and modern interpretation meet.
