Pianist Gintaras Januševičius has been surprising his listeners with inventive and unforgettable programs for ten years - "Dream Catchers", "All Chopin's Waltzes", "New Colossus", "The Merchant of Venice" stories". In each program, the performer, like a chameleon, transforms into different characters, and at the same time moves to another era, culture or musical style. During his many years of preparing these unique programs, he carefully selects the pieces and arranges them into a single musical necklace, which he embellishes with stories, images, acting elements or even smells. With his innovative concert ideas, the pianist fascinates listeners in New York, Paris, London, Zurich, Rio de Janeiro, and also returns to Lithuanian concert halls every year.
Now G. Januševičius is taking on the biggest challenge to date: having created a draft of the program in 2016 , a year later he presents the solo program "The Little Prince", in which, appearing in the roles of pianist and narrator, the magic of musical sounds gives the legendary story of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry a never-before-seen form. The philosophical text of the book is surrounded by 27 piano miniatures by French composers of the 19th and 20th centuries. Their authors are well-known Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, Georges Bizet, Camille Saint-Saëns, while Jehan Alain, Gabriel Grovlez, Jean-Henri Ravina or Cécile Chaminade are little known to the Lithuanian public. Thus, the concert can be called both a mono performance and a kind of retrospective of French music.
Gintaras Januševičius, a pianist living in Germany and performing all over the world, became famous in 2004 when he became the youngest finalist of the International Montreal Piano Competition, and the S Rachmaninov's Etudes-paintings Op. 39 was praised by such piano masters as Jean-Philippe Collard, Kum-Sing Lee, Michel Dalberto, Benedetto Lupo. As a soloist, he played with more than 30 orchestras, presented solo and chamber programs in many cities of Lithuania and Germany, appeared in halls such as Barcelona's "Palau de la Musica Catalana", Würzburg Residence, Montreal's Wilfrid Pelletier Hall, Madrid Auditorium, Shenzhen Concert Hall , Cortot Hall in Paris, Rahvusooper Estonia in Tallinn, etc. The performer has participated in many international festivals, including the prestigious Chopin Duszniki-Zdroj festivals (Poland), Mozartfest and Dresdner Musikfestspiele (Germany), Festival Besançon (France) and others. In 2017, he founded Klaipėda Piano Masters, the largest piano academy in the Baltic States, and in 2021 he joined the LRT KLASIKA team, where he continues to nurture his passion for musical education.
