Ludwig van Beethoven String Quartet no. 13 in B-flat major, Op. 130
Letters of L. van Beethoven are read, "Testament of Heiligenstadt",
"Letter to an immortal beloved.
"Forever yours, forever mine, forever ours" - so the composer signed his letter to his immortal lover. The concert will feature one of L. van Beethoven's (1770 – 1827) most impressive masterpieces - String Quartet Op. 130, created in the last years of his life. Being ahead of its time in terms of modern definition, this work may seem avant-garde even to a modern listener. Among the quartet's contrasting parts will be a reading of the Heiligenstadt Testament (an 1802 letter written by the composer to his brothers Karl and Johann, in which he describes his despair and anxiety over his hearing loss). Another, more mysterious and intimate document known as the "Letter to the Immortal Beloved" will also be presented, written ten years after the Testament, when the creator was already completely deaf. These texts allow us to look into Beethoven's soul - suffering, irritable, but full of love for humanity and loved ones. In the original concert program, an extraordinary artistic atmosphere is created by the combination of genius chamber music and authentic texts of the composer.
