There is no doubt that Jordan Rakei is one of the most talented and interesting creators working today. A Grammy nomination, four highly acclaimed albums by music critics and fans, and an ambitious fifth effort, The Loop, on the way. "Music for me - as a system, algorithm or game. I have songs that mean a lot to me because of their lyrics, they deal with the themes of anxiety and bereavement. But I think about it more logically and less - philosophically", - J. Rakei presents his unique approach to creativity, which expertly intertwines electronic music, soul and jazz.
In the first pages of J. Rakei's career, which began in 2013 - EPs and a 2015 Grammy nomination for "Masterpiece" with Disclosure on their Caracal album.
The artist released his debut album Cloak full of innovative sounds and life in 2016 and followed it up with his second album Wallflower in 2017. With his third work "Origin", which appeared in 2020, Mr. Rakei demonstrated a new direction in music creation and received extremely favorable evaluations for it.
At the same time that Rakei was working on his 2021 album What We Call Life, he collaborated with artists such as Loyle Carner and Tom Misch. "It was great at the same time to feel that I had a firm foothold in the world of music and to have the freedom to experiment with my own music," says the artist about this period.
J. Rake's audience grew especially when he was invited to perform his songs on NPR's Tiny Desk Project in January 2020, just before the pandemic hit. "It was one of the biggest goals of my life," the artist says of the performance, which has been viewed more than 1.7 million times. J. Rakei also recorded live sessions in the COLORS project and "BBC 6 Music".
The creator says that he has never released two identical albums. , and the new album "The Loop", released on May 10, is no exception. "The Loop" is an exceptionally ambitious project created during a period marked by changes in personal life and career. In addition to the already usual bold creative style of Mr. Rakei, the recording also features breathtaking orchestral and choral parts, hypnotic rhythms and a narrative that leads through periods of darkness and hope. The album, which is a real treat for music lovers, also features a gentle song assigned to his wife for the first time and the sensual track "Flowers".
