V INTERNATIONAL JOSEPH ACHRON MUSIC FESTIVAL "Return" Christian ALTENBURGER (violin, Austria) Dalia DĘDINSKAITĖ (violin) Dovilė JUOZAPAITIENĖ (viola) Gleb PYŠNIAK (cello) Josef GILGENREINER (double bass, Switzerland) The Fifth International Joseph Achron Music Festival marks a symbolic return to its origins. The performers who participated in the first festival and contributed to its artistic beginning are returning to the anniversary program - the legendary Austrian violinist Christian Altenburger, who played at the opening concert of the festival, and double bassist Josef Gilgenreiner, whose musical partnership also accompanied the first steps of the festival. A special highlight of this evening's program is Karl Goldmark's String Quintet in A minor, Op. 9, which will be played in Lithuania for the first time. A Hungarian composer of Jewish origin, who spent most of his creative life in Vienna, Goldmark was one of the prominent composers of the 19th century. Figures of the musical life of Central Europe. His early String Quintet opens a rarely heard repertoire of romantic music, in which the Viennese musical tradition and the cultural context of Central Europe intertwine. The program will also feature Krzysztof Penderecki's "Duo Concertante" for violin and double bass - a work of unexpected composition, where two extreme voices of the string family meet. It will be performed by Christian Altenburger and Josef Gilgenreiner, the music duo who have already presented this duo on various European stages. Pēteris Vasks String Quartet No. 3 in this concert is dedicated to commemorating the composer's 80th birthday. At the beginning of the evening, Joseph Achron's "Hebrew Lullaby" for the quintet will become a symbolic sign of the festival's eponymous concert. Christian Altenburger (violin, Austria), Dalia Dėdinskaitė (violin), Dovilė Juozapaitienė (viola), Gleb Pyšniak (cello) and Josef Gilgenreiner (double bass, Switzerland) will appear on stage - internationally acclaimed chamber music performers. It's an evening about coming back - to the beginning of the festival, to musical camaraderie and to a lively dialogue of chamber music.
