Embedded music festival Muzika Erdvėje'26 HELLO, WORLD www.muzikaerdveje.lt ECHO 2026.09.16 | WEDNESDAY| Liepkalnis water storage 18:00 excursion 18:30 performance Interdisciplinary performance "Echo" (authors - director Karolis Zajauskas and composer Natas Kunas), in the context of the festival code Hello, World, opens the perspective of the Anthropocene - the noisy intervention of human technology into nature. The basis of the work is Ovid's "Metamorphoses", which tells the myth of the nymph Echone, cursed to repeat foreign words forever. Here, Echo is no longer a nature-protecting nymph, but becomes a man-made Echo - a system of technological vibrations and noise that pollutes the underwater world... In the performance, the pulses of ship engines, sonar signals and the hum of metal create an industrial coercion in which the natural connections of nature are disrupted. Ritual actions performed by the two actors, from precision industrial water filtration to a modern mermaid figure washed ashore, visualize this desacralization, where the digital echo of the human irreversibly alters physical reality. The performance combines sound, experimental cinema and theater. Authentic sounds used in Lithuanian dams and ports turn the Liepkalnis water reservoir into a giant "auditorium". This heavily echoed infrastructure space becomes not a decoration, but a part of the play's dramaturgy: an emptied vessel, in which the memory of former water still sounds.
