August 20, 2024 7:00 p.m. An exceptional musical event will take place at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic - a piano recital by Yevgenijus Kissin (Israel/UK).
Yevgenijus Kissin is one of the most prominent figures of classical music of this era. The depth and poeticity of the pianist's interpretations, his perfect virtuosity earned him the kind of recognition that only the most talented artists of the era receive. Kissin's recitals are highly anticipated events on the world's most important stages, where he has performed both solo and with the most famous orchestras and conductors: Claudio Abbado, Daniel Barenboim, James Levine, Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Seiji Ozawa, etc.
53-year-old Kissin, born in a Jewish family in Moscow, started playing the piano by ear and improvising when he was only two. At the age of ten, he already performed in large city halls, and as a teenager he organized tours in Europe and Japan. Seventeen-year-old Kissin gained worldwide fame with a New Year's concert and broadcast, in which he appeared with the legendary trampoline master Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. Kissin left Russia in 1991 and still lives in Prague with his family. For more than a decade, he has been perhaps the fiercest critic of Russian political power, repression and military aggression. After the start of broad-minded military actions against Ukraine, the performer actively supports the country's society by organizing charity concerts, constantly making public appearances and gathering like-minded people. Jevgenijs Kissin returns to Lithuania for his only concert after a 14-year hiatus with an exceptional program that reveals his musicality in all its colors. When playing, Kissin creates an almost mystical atmosphere.
As the Los Angeles Times wrote, in concerts "he completely immerses himself in his own world - like a jazz musician who dissolves in the music and his in stormy feelings. Kissin is going through a special moment in his career, trying new things and letting his soul fly. It's extremely intriguing.” August 20. He will perform the famous opuses of Beethoven, Chopin, Brahms and Prokofiev for the Vilnius audience.
The concert is organized by the Lithuanian company "Riverside Music", which organizes musical tours and projects in more than 30 countries around the world. countries and working with such ensembles as the Israeli, London, New York Philharmonic, Royal London Philharmonic, La Scala Philharmonic symphony orchestras; the most famous artists of today - Zubin Mehta, Sir Antonio Pappano, Sir Simon Rattle, Martha Argerich, Yefim Bronfman, Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach, José Cura, Thomas Hampson, Elīna Garanča, Jonas Kaufmann, Gidon Kremer and others.
