Asleep Sonata in the Forest Mihkel Kerem - Asleep Maurice Ravel - Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 (posth.) Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis/M. Kerem - "Not Goodbye" Leos Janaček - Sonata for violin and piano1. Con moto2. Ballad3. Allegretto4. Adagio M. K. Čiurlionis - Symphonic poem "Miške", transcription for violin and piano (M. Kerem and R. Zubovas) Performers: Mihkel Kerem, violin Rokas Zubovas, piano About the program Violinist-composer Mihkel Kerem and pianist Rokas Zubova present a new concert program "Dreaming Sonata in the Forest" ". The program aims to immerse the listener in the realm of fantasy and dreams, so symbolically, Mihkel Kerem's miniature for violin and piano "Asleep" begins. And to summarize the program, the performers decided to prepare a version of Čiurlionis' symphonic poem "Miške" for violin and piano, thus responding to the 19th century. the existing practice of making symphonic works more accessible to listeners by adapting them for various instrument ensembles. In the center of the program - three contemporary composers, M.K. Čiurlionis, M. Ravel and L. Janaček, sonatas for violin and piano. The relationship of all three composers to this genre is shrouded in mystery. It is known that the Czech composer Leoš Janaček even wrote sonatas for violin and piano twice during his studies - the first was composed while he was studying in Leipzig, the second in Vienna. Unfortunately, not a single sonata survived. As many as thirty years had to pass before Czech classics touched this genre again. The Sonata for violin and piano created in 1914 is filled with the foreboding of the impending war, as the composer later admitted "...in 1914 In the sonata for violin and piano, I could almost hear the beats of steel in my restless head..." French composer Maurice Ravel was long thought to have composed a single sonata for violin and piano, but nearly four decades after the author's death, in the celebration of Maurice Ravel's 100th birthday, another, much earlier work by the composer for the same composition was discovered and published. While studying in Gabriel Faure's composition class at the Paris Conservatoire, Maurice Ravel appears to have composed this one-movement sonata in the late 19th century. year It is not known if this piece was ever performed during the composer's lifetime. Also in the last XIX century. Čiurlionis also started composing a Sonata for violin and piano while studying in the composition class of Zygmunts Noskovskis at the Warsaw Institute of Music. Whether the sonata was completed, no historical knowledge has survived, but it is clear that it was a multi-part work, because in the 21st century. at the beginning, fragments of the manuscripts of the first and second parts were discovered. These fragments were not enough to recreate the entirety of the composer's work, so the violinist and composer Mihkel Kerem took upon himself the discovered fragments, like precious artifacts of the past, inlaid into today's musical language, thus giving them a chance for a new life. Mihkel Kerem embodies the tradition of famous violinists who are not only virtuoso soloists, but also concertmasters of famous orchestras, versatile chamber music performers and well-known composers. Currently, the work of the composer M. Kerem consists of about 200 works, among which there are eight symphonies, concerts for various instruments with an orchestra, string quartets, chamber sonatas. As a violinist, Mr. Kerem is Second Concertmaster of the Royal Liverpool Symphony Orchestra and performs extensively as a soloist and member of various chamber ensembles. In Lithuania, the violinist is a familiar and welcome guest, this is his fifth presentation to Lithuanian music lovers. Pianist Rokas Zubovs has performed in South and North America, Asia, and many European countries. The works of M. K. Čiurlionis (1875-1911) occupy an extremely important place in the pianist's repertoire. Rokas Zubov is the only pianist in the world who has recorded all of M. K. Čiurlionis' piano works on 6 CDs (published by "Impetus musicus" in 2010). The pianist organizes music festivals, writes articles on various music and culture issues; created the main role in the artistic film "Letters to Sofia" (in 2012, directed by Robert Mullan, Great Britain), gave presentations on various research issues of M. K. Čiurlionis's work at international conferences in Lithuania, Estonia, Belgium, Argentina, USA.
