Welcoming the New Year, the titular Čiurlionis quartet invites you on a journey through the most beautiful musical landscapes of various eras - from the vaults of the sky to the secret corners of the cinema. On this tour, the listeners will be accompanied by a very unusual instrument on the stage of the Philharmonic - the harmonica, which was brought to the prestigious concert halls by the Italian virtuoso Gianluca Littera. He is one of the few soloists in the world who performs classical, contemporary and jazz music with this instrument.
The artist's repertoire includes symphonic and chamber music works by Gordon Jacob, Robert Farnon, Vaughan Williams, William Walton, Luciano Chailly, James Moody etc. compositions. G. Jacobo's Divertisment for accordion and string quartet, played at the concert, which G. Littera performed at the Asolo Music Festival in the Venice region, was included as one of the highlights on the CD released on the occasion of the festival's 30th anniversary. In collaboration with Brazilian composer and conductor Gil Jardim, the accordion virtuoso has produced a CD of Brazilian music projects, including original compositions and arrangements for accordion and orchestra. in 2010 with the Santa Cecilia Academy Orchestra, G. Littera performed "Immobile 2", a new composition for accordion and orchestra written for him by Oscar winner Ennio Morricone, conducted by the composer himself. The works of these and other authors decorate the festive program of the unusual ensemble.
