"Undoubtedly the star of the Baroque," wrote The Sunday Times of the Italian countertenor Raffaele Pe, who not only performs on world stages with many famous artists, but also in 2015 founded the baroque music ensemble "La Lira di Orfeo". R. Pe has collaborated with such musicians as Jordi Savall, John Eliot Gardiner, William Christie, Giovanni Antonini, Enrico Onofri and others, appearing in major opera houses from the Teatro alla Scala in Milan and La Fenice in Venice to the Staatsoper in Berlin. "Theater an der Wien" in Vienna and "Teatro Colón" in Buenos Aires.
Ensemble "La Lira di Orfeo" is a collective of musicians, artists and researchers that has gained international recognition during its several years of existence, appearing in London, Berlin, in Vienna, Rome, the Handel Festival in Halle and elsewhere, renowned for his award-winning recordings and unique programs (Handel's Acis, Galatea and Polyphemus, Julius Caesar in Egypt, Piccinni's Caesar in Egypt, Scarlatti's Griselda, Porpora's Orpheus , "Angelika", "Virtuosissimo" and others).
Musicians performing in Lithuania for the first time will present the program "Vivaldi cantatas", the tour of which will begin in October at London's Wigmore Hall and will arrive in Vilnius at the end of December. The unique five cantatas for viola and basso continuo relate to the Venetian master's stay in Mantua in 1718-1720. The governor of Mantua, the patron Philip of Hesse-Darmstadt (Filippo d'Assia-Darmstadt), invited Vivaldi to work as his court kapellmeister and he composed secular music on themes such as hunting, nature and love. The concert will also feature instrumental music inspired by these cantatas.
