Išlikimo teorijos ø Muzikos ruduo 2024

The saxophone quartet "Quasar", known not only on the Canadian but also on the international contemporary music scene for its energy and bold innovations, is coming to Vilnius and presenting to the audience a program specially prepared for the festival. In it, works by Lithuanian and foreign composers (including premieres!) from various perspectives reflect both the calamities that threaten our survival or the established order of the world, as well as our own response to them. This is, as it were, a look into the future and into ourselves: what will we have to overcome, what will we become and what will the "day after tomorrow" look like?

GLOBAL CHALLENGES

Humanity is quietly deciding its future. As the world stands on the brink of the pervasiveness of artificial intelligence that could change the fabric of society, with scientists warning ominously that we will soon cross a "red line" beyond which climate damage will be irreversible, with the earth's population surpassing 8 billion and the doomsday clock ticking in the last minutes to midnight, it becomes clear that global challenges can change our future and everyday life at any time. How do we see and react to these threats and the future of humanity, and why, even when we are aware of the extent of the threats, are we unable to focus on saving the world? looks at problems relevant to the whole world or regions - from the impact of consumerism on the environment to the number of people in the world, from the lack of fresh water to the threats of robotization. How are these themes reflected in the works of composers, in the world of music, in our everyday life and in our perception of it? While continuing to develop the international program, the festival will also offer an important opportunity for the exchange of ideas, their global contextualization - the presented foreign creators and performers will expand the range of relevant topics, their access and perception and will allow us to listen even more widely to the mirror of global threats presented to us by music, as well as possible the future(s) of mankind.
